OVER the weekend, the world became familiar with one of the more obscure letters of the Greek alphabet - Omicron.
It's what the World Health Organization (WHO) has decided to call the rapidly spreading B.1.1.529 coronavirus variant - which has already prompted a fresh wave of travel restrictions and sparked a nasty sell-off in markets around the globe.
Many investors might be surprised and comforted to know that Omicron is the 15th letter of the Greek alphabet. The last variant that delivered a significant blow to the market was dubbed Delta, which is the fourth letter.
