Jardine Matheson taps ex-Indonesian fund CIO as country head
Christopher Ganis will assume the new role on Jul 1
[SINGAPORE] Jardine Matheson has hired Christopher Ganis, formerly chief investment officer (CIO) at sovereign wealth fund Indonesia Investment Authority (INA), as country head for Indonesia, according to people familiar with the matter.
Ganis, who also holds the title of managing director for investments, starts on Jul 1 and will lead the privately-held Hong Kong conglomerate’s activities in Indonesia, the people said, who asked not to be identified discussing private matters.
Based in Jakarta, he will report to chief executive officer Lincoln Pan.
Ganis’ appointment comes amid Jardine’s corporate makeover as it seeks to transform itself into an investment firm focused on higher growth sectors.
In Indonesia, the group’s main investment is its stake in conglomerate Astra International, held through its subsidiary Jardine Cycle & Carriage .
Astra derives 35 per cent of its profit from the automotive sector, 28 per cent from heavy equipment and mining, and 27 per cent from financial services, according to a May presentation.
Ganis was promoted to co-CIO at INA in 2025, from managing director of investments in hybrid capital solutions. Prior to that, he was formerly head of private credit for Indonesia at BlackRock. BLOOMBERG
