JPMORGAN Asset Management (JPMAM) has appointed Ayaz Ebrahim chief executive of Singapore and South-east Asia, subject to regulatory approval.
He succeeds Sherene Ban, who will become head of the institution’s continental Europe institutional business, it said on Friday (Dec 15).
In his new role, Ebrahim will work on deepening client relationships and building upon the firm’s growth in the region. He will retain his investment responsibilities within the emerging markets and Asia-Pacific (EMAP) team.
Based in Singapore, he will report to both JPMAM Asia-Pacific chief executive Dan Watkins and Anuj Arora, the head of the EMAP equities team. At present, he is a portfolio manager and co-head of JPMAM’s APAC regional team within EMAP equities.
Ebrahim joined JPMAM in 2015 and has over three decades of experience in investments, having held leadership roles in Amundi, HSBC and Deutsche Bank.
“Singapore and South-east Asia is a strategically important market for us and we remain steadfast in our commitment,” Watkins said.
