Keppel confirms contract talks with Norway's Golar
CONFIRMING a Business Times report, Keppel Corp said yesterday that its unit, Keppel Shipyard, and topside partners are negotiating conversion and liquefaction contracts with Norway's Golar LNG, to convert an LNG carrier into a floating storage and liquefaction vessel (FLSV).
Negotiations began following the conclusion of a front-end engineering and design (FEED) study in August this year. It was conducted by Keppel Shipyard to confirm the engineering and work scope of the project.
Keppel is working with Golar on the conversion and engineering of the first of three FLNG vessels. "There will be an option to convert the other two FLNG vessels at a later date," Keppel said in a statement yesterday.
