Keppel unit inks US$684m LNG carrier conversion contract
Singapore
RIGBUILDER Keppel Corp said on Wednesday that its wholly owned unit Keppel Shipyard has inked a US$684 million contract to convert a liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier into a floating liquefaction facility. The conversion of the Gandria vessel will be carried out for London-based LNG shipping company Golar LNG.
The award of the conversion contract to Keppel Shipyard is the third for the yard from Golar, and marks the exercise of the second of two options that were part of a contract Golar awarded to the yard for a previous similar conversion, Keppel said. Prior to this, Keppel had secured contracts to convert Golar's Hilli LNG carrier and Gimi LNG carrier into floating liquefaction facilities.
