Keppel unit partners Petronas’ Gentari for sustainable energy solutions in South-east Asia

THE infrastructure unit of Keppel Corporation has inked a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Petronas’ renewable energy arm, Gentari, to jointly explore specific sustainability-linked opportunities in South-east Asia. These include renewable and low-carbon energy projects, as well as electric-vehicle charging infrastructure.
Other possible areas of exploration are facilitating mutual support in market access and enabling mutual capability development, said Gentari on Thursday (Jul 6).
Both parties will also explore potential collaboration in energy-as-a-service (EaaS) opportunities, such as energy efficiency and energy management projects.
“Through collaborating on sustainable infrastructure projects and EaaS with Gentari, we aim to leverage each other’s strengths to improve urban environments and enhance access to e-mobility,” said Cindy Lim, chief executive of Keppel Infrastructure.
The MOU was inked at the recent Energy Asia conference in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, between Keppel Infrastructure’s managing director Tan Boon Leng and Gentari’s chief renewables officer Low Kian Min.
The announcement comes a day after Sembcorp announced it signed a MOU with Gentari to jointly explore potential collaborations and related business activities in the field of clean energy solutions.
