KhattarWong forms alliance with Withers to expand into the region
KHATTARWONG has established a partnership with international law firm Withers as both seek to expand into the region.
The two firms will from April form Withers KhattarWong, which will provide Singapore, UK and US legal services. Under this arrangement, KhattarWong partners will also become Withers partners.
Calling it a "fantastic new chapter" for KhattarWong, its managing partner Deborah Barker said: "We have historically had an international outlook through offices in Asia and other international associations, and this alliance enables us to offer clients access to a much broader network of skilled lawyers around the world.
"We expect that Withers KhattarWong will make a big impact on the Singapore market and will be able to reach into the wider region in new and productive ways," she added.
The alliance will enable Withers to offer integrated wealth planning, dispute resolution, arbitration and commercial legal capabilities that are currently lacking in the South-east Asian market, said Withers managing director Margaret Robertson.
In Singapore, Withers has nine lawyers, including six partners. It provides advice on tax and estate planning, corporate and cross-border dispute resolution and arbitration.
"We are delighted to be able to enter into this agreement with KhattarWong. We have got to know the firm very well since we set up our own practice in the same building in 2012 and have long recognised KhattarWong's reputation as one of Singapore's most well-established and respected firms," said Ms Robertson.
