At least 3 bids for M'sian football league deal
Contending groups lured by strong viewership and potential ad spinoffs
AT least three groups have submitted bids for the privatisation of the Malaysian football league in a deal that will involve exclusive broadcasting rights and which could be worth as much as RM70 million (S$27.6 million) a year to the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM).
According to industry officials, the three are Malaysian satellite-television provider Astro Holdings Malaysia in collaboration with Fox Sports; Zenith Media in a joint venture with IMG Worldwide; and integrated media and television group Media Prime together with Telekom Malaysia.
Fox Sports is a division of US-based Fox Broadcasting Corporation. Zenith Media is the Malaysian unit of global media group Zenith Worldwide while IMG Worldwide creates and manages events, organisations and people in sports, fashion and the media.
