Markets' rally lifts Great Eastern's Q2 bottom line

Earnings more than double, helped by rise in non-operating profit

Over the longer term, "the key indicators to watch are the direction of interest rates, equity prices and foreign exchange rates," says Great Eastern.

THE rally in financial markets has lifted Great Eastern Holdings' non-operating profit in the second quarter of 2017 and, in turn, helped more than double the insurer's net profit to S$279.5 million from S$102.2 million a year ago.
