ALVIN Lee Han Eng will take over as Maybank’s country chief executive officer (CEO), CEO of Maybank Singapore and CEO of Malayan Banking’s Singapore branch from Jan 1, 2024.

He succeeds Dr John Lee Hin Hock, who retires at year-end, and will oversee the bank’s entire operations in Singapore, said the bank on Friday (Dec 8).

As a member of the group executive committee, he will report to Maybank’s president and group CEO Khairussaleh Ramli.

Lee is currently the head of community financial services (CFS) of Singapore and head of group wealth management.

From next year, CFS corporate office head Adam Tan will succeed Lee as the head of CFS. Lee will continue to helm the bank’s group wealth management, Maybank told The Business Times.

In a banking career spanning more than 30 years, 11 years of which have been with Maybank, Lee has led the transformation of the bank’s core CFS business in the Republic. He also drove the launch of Maybank private wealth in 2013; in 2016, he introduced group wealth management to serve private, premier and privilege customers.

“With Alvin’s experience and track record, he is expected to steer Maybank Singapore along a similar path of impactful results both locally and regionally,” said Khairussaleh.
