RENEWABLE energy infrastructure company Metis Energy on Saturday (Jun 24) said that one of its independent directors, Henry Wong Chuen Yuen, has resigned for personal reasons.

His resignation, together with his stepping down as member of the board’s audit committee, is effective from Saturday, the board said.

The resignation came after Wong was charged with one count of corruption on Friday. He was appointed to his roles at Metis Energy in May 2022.

Wong was the former director of programmes and the central innovation cluster at the National Research Foundation under the Prime Minister’s Office until February 2022.

He was also a member of the project evaluation panel at the Built Environment Technology Alliance (Beta), which is under the Building and Construction Authority, until August 2021.

Between May and August 2021, he allegedly agreed to accept bribes in the form of a 30 per cent shareholding of a company to advance the company’s business interest in its grant applications from Beta.
