MNCs must enable Asian managers to secure top positions

THE same cultural and communication differences that make doing business in Asia challenging for Western companies also play a role in keeping Asian executives out of the upper echelons of management. And to overcome this, multinational firms need to change the way they approach talent management in Asia.
According to executive search firm Odgers Berndtson, MNCs, for a start, need to consider having talent development programmes that suit the unique needs of Asian employees, rather than transplanting existing schemes that were designed with the Western executive in mind.
