FOLLOWING a string of crane-related accidents, mostly in construction sites, the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) has stepped up inspections on crane and lifting operations. An island-wide enforcement drive launched this week will take about two weeks.
With the year only into its third month, there have already been seven accidents involving crane and lifting operations, MOM said on Wednesday. In contrast, there were 12 accidents for the whole of last year.
