MOUNT Alvernia Hospital (MAH) appointed Lam Kian Ming as its new chief executive officer (CEO), with effect from May 2, 2017, it said on Monday.

Dr Lam, who was previously the CEO of Thomson Medical Group, will focus on delivering the hospital's development plans. He will also continue the hospital's mission by building on the solid foundation that the Franciscan Missionaries of the Divine Motherhood Sisters and many of its staff have laid for the hospital over the last five decades.

Dr Lam, who was also group director of the Applied Sciences Group & Blood Services Group at the Health Sciences Authority (HSA) of Singapore, will bring to the table more than 20 years of experience in the healthcare industry.

He said: "I am extremely humbled and grateful for the confidence that the board, management and staff has placed in me. We will continue to build upon the rich legacy from our founding Sisters to provide outstanding care to our patients and their families, and to practise and live our Mission, Vision and Values through all levels of the organisation.

"There are many friends and members of the community we have come to know over the years and I am confident that our hospital and network of physicians are well poised to meet the healthcare delivery expectations and demands in the years to come."
