New aircraft set to return SIA to capacity growth

SINGAPORE Airlines (SIA) is set to usher in a phase of capacity growth as it begins to take delivery of new aircraft this year, including the latest variant of Boeing's 787 model.

Launch customer SIA will receive the first 787-10 later this month, outfitted with a revamped regional Business Class seat. These aircraft will be deployed on routes within the Asia- Pacific, starting with Osaka and Perth in May.

With 49 firm orders for the 787-10s in total, SIA is the biggest customer of this variant of the Dreamliner, which will be used to replace its existing A330s and older B777s. As a result, it will end up beefing up capacity on these routes.
