THE new primary care plan for migrant workers could set employers back by some S$108 to S$145 in premiums per worker a year, adding yet another element to rising manpower costs for those in the construction sector.

But business owners said the plan provides a more definitive way to cater to the health costs of their migrant workers, though the cost impact could vary across companies.

The plan, which will be implemented in 2022, covers the cost of medical examinations for work pass purposes, medical consultations and treatments, annual health screening and telemedicine, and other services.
