Nikkei appoints new special executive officer for Asian regional HQ in Singapore
NIKKEI Group Asia has appointed Daryl Neo, chief executive officer of data technology company DC Frontiers, as special executive officer of the group’s regional headquarters based in Singapore, marking the first appointment of this role outside of Japan.
According to a Friday (Jul 1) press statement, Neo was formerly a Singapore Exchange regulator. DC Frontier, where he is a founding director, is the company behind corporate intelligence platform Handshakes.
Nikkei Inc took a minority stake in DC Frontiers in 2019 in order to enhance its corporate services for the overseas markets.
At Nikkei, Neo will be working on business development activities for Nikkei’s overseas services and solutions, including Asia-focused news and company data platform scoutAsia.
scoutAsia was jointly developed by Nikkei and the Financial Times in 2018, with DC Frontiers joining in 2019 to power the platform with its artificial intelligence technologies to process data and articles, and introducing bespoke data solutions.
Neo served as chief commercial officer of Nikkei FT ScoutAsia Limited (Hong Kong) until the business was transferred to the parent company Nikkei Inc earlier this year.
