No surprises as STI weakens 15 points
Decline follows Monday's 32-point rise, which dealers had attributed mainly to short-covering and not to any 'real' demand
HAVING risen sharply on Monday in anticipation of Wall Street's bounce that day, the Straits Times Index on Tuesday slumped 15.33 points at 3,408.02.
Turnover was 1.2 billion units worth S$1.2 billion, down from Monday's S$1.3 billion, and excluding warrants there were 210 rises versus 226 falls.
More or less the same stocks which propelled the index up 32 points on Monday were responsible for Tuesday's pullback - the banks, Singtel, Jardine Strategic and Jardine Matheson.
