OCBC appoints new head for global consumer financial services

OCBC has appointed Sunny Quek as its head of global consumer financial services, taking charge of the consumer banking and wealth-management business in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia and Greater China.
He was the head of consumer financial services Singapore for the bank and a member of the management committee. After the appointment, he will also be made a member of the management executive committee.
Joining OCBC in September 2012 as head of branch and premier banking Singapore, he was appointed head of consumer financial services in Singapore in November 2019. During his time in branch and premier banking, he led the digital transformation of customer interaction points, as well as grew the Premier Banking business. He has also been overseeing OCBC Securities and sits on its board of directors.
OCBC’s consumer banking and wealth-management business in Singapore has grown its deposit book and margins under him. Consumer green loans tripled within a year, growing secured lending balances. Wealth-management fees have also grown significantly with strong bancassurance sales, where OCBC sells insurance products to its customer base.
Helen Wong, chief executive officer, OCBC, said: “Rolling out innovative talent management programmes and initiatives, Sunny has also built a strong team to drive the businesses further. He is well respected by his peers within the OCBC Group, and I am confident he will be a valuable contributor to the senior management team.”
