Olam announces new COO, CFO

OLAM International on Monday announced that A Shekhar, executive director - finance and business development for the group, has been promoted to the newly created position of executive director and group chief operating officer (ED and group COO) with effect from Feb 1, 2016.

In his new role, Mr Shekhar will assist co-founder and group CEO Sunny Verghese in overseeing all aspects of Olam's business.

Mr Shekhar has spent over 24 years in Olam and during this period, has worked in various regional, business unit and functional roles and developed insights into Olam's overall business, the company said.

Olam also announced the appointment of Neelamani Muthukumar (Muthu) as its group chief financial officer (group CFO) with immediate effect.

As group CFO, Mr Muthu will be responsible for regional and product finance, corporate planning and budgeting, financial and management reporting, banking and treasury, investor relations and the corporate secretarial functions of the group.

Mr Muthu has been with Olam for more than 18 years and is currently the president and global head, corporate finance.
