Over 6,600 Singaporeans registered as overseas voters for Presidential Election
SINGAPORE’S Elections Department (ELD) on Wednesday (Aug 23) said that 6,649 Singaporeans have registered as overseas voters for the upcoming Presidential Election.
Of this number, 3,432 Singaporeans will vote via post, while 3,217 will vote in person at overseas polling stations.
For a vote to be accepted for counting, the return envelope carrying marked postal ballot paper must be postmarked before Polling Day on Sep 1 and reach Singapore’s returning officer by Sep 11.
“We encourage postal voters to mail back the return envelope early,” ELD said.
Should the overseas voter return to Singapore on Polling Day, he may vote at his allotted polling station in the country, which can be found in the voter’s poll card. This poll card will be sent to the voter’s registered Singapore NRIC address or local contact address.
The details are also accessible via the Singpass app on the voter’s ePoll card and ELD’s voter services from now until Polling Day.
