POSB offers free train, bus rides to select cardholders
AS part of an initiative to celebrate Singapore's 50th birthday, POSB, together with ez-link and Transit Link, is offering free rides on the MRT, LRT and buses on Fridays from July 31 until the end of 2015 to commuters with POSB Everyday Credit Card or PAssion POSB Credit Card.
The first 50,000 commuters who link either card with EZ-Reload - an automatic top-up service - will enjoy the free rides. Another 50,000 commuters holding these cards and already signed up with EZ-Reload will benefit from this facility as well.
POSB will waive all EZ-Reload transaction and ATM top-up fees. On average, a commuter can expect to save around S$15 every month through "Fare Free Friday", the bank said.
According to POSB, there are over 600,000 holders of POSB Everyday Card, while PAssion POSB Debit Card is the fastest-growing card in the market with more than 300,000 cardholders since its launch in January 2014.
Said Jeremy Soo, managing director and head of consumer banking group at DBS Bank: "This is a special year for Singapore and we want to take this opportunity to celebrate with our customers and thank them for their continuous support of POSB over the years. Fridays are one of the happiest days of the week and we hope that providing our customers with free public transport on Friday will give them even more cause to smile before they venture into the weekend."
