Prudential posts 14% rise in operating profit
Singapore
PRUDENTIAL on Tuesday posted a 14 per cent increase in operating profit in 2014 from a year ago, thanks to broad-based growth across Asia, the US and the UK.
Pre-tax operating profit for the period stood at £3.2 billion (S$6.7 billion), up from £2.8 billion a year ago. This was in line with a Reuters forecast. Net profit for the period was up 74 per cent from a year ago to £2.2 billion, due mainly to smaller hits from short-term fluctuations in investment returns linked to its insurance operations.
