Removal of quarterly reporting won't hurt research: analysts

MOST analysts here are not concerned that the decision by the Singapore Exchange (SGX) to remove mandatory quarterly reporting (QR) will put a dent on research here.

This is because there are other sources of information on companies that they can draw on for their research reports, they said.

From Feb 7, QR will no longer be required for listed companies - unless they are associated with higher risks. These businesses will need to report on their performances only semi-annually.

A 2017 CFA Institute Research Foundation study said that when the UK abolished QR, companies that stopped putting out these reports saw a steeper decline in analyst …
