S-Reits a safe haven in hunt for yield

WITH uncertainty and volatility in the global economy, Singapore real estate investment trusts (S-Reits) are shaping up to be a safe haven for local investors hunting for yield, OCBC Investment Research (OIR) analysts said on Wednesday.

Indeed, the asset class has "sharply" outperformed the Straits Times Index (STI) so far this year, and with interest rates likely to stay low for longer, S-Reits will continue to be attractive to investors, according to OIR, which has an "overweight" call on the sector.
