Sembcorp Industries appoints Yap Chee Keong as independent director

SEMBCORP Industries announced on Friday the appointment of Yap Chee Keong as independent director and member of its board's audit committee and risk committee with effect from Oct 1.

Mr Yap is a former executive director of The Straits Trading Company and chief financial officer at Singapore Power. He is currently independent non-executive chairman of CityNet Infrastructure Management and serves as director on the boards of several companies such as Olam International, Citibank Singapore, The Straits Trading Company, ARA Asset Management, Mediacorp and Certis Cisco Security.

He is also a board member of Singapore's Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority (ACRA) and sits on the Public Accountants Oversight Committee.

"An accountant by training, Mr Yap brings to the board both financial and audit expertise, as well as rich experience in energy, infrastructure, real estate and other industries," Sembcorp Industries said in a statement.
