SEMBCORP Industries announced on Friday the opening of its second cogeneration plant and a technology and innovation centre, both in Singapore.
The S$635 million gas-fired cogeneration facility in Jurong Island's Banyan area has a gross capacity of 400 megawatts of power and 200 tonnes per hour of process steam. It increases Sembcorp's combined gross power generating capacity in Singapore by 50 per cent to 1,215 megawatts.
Sembcorp said the plant complements its other facilities in the vicinity, including a multi-utilities centre and an industrial waste water treatment plant.
