WITH its power plant in India expected to come fully onstream in the third quarter, utilities group Sembcorp Industries is pinning its hopes on its overseas business as its local utilities segment and marine arm both sagged for the second quarter.
Even though its net profit for the three months ended June 30 climbed 24.9 per cent year-on-year to S$223.56 million, the increase was due to a one-off gain from selling off a subsidiary, the group noted in a Singapore Exchange filing on Tuesday.
