Sembcorp unit ‘in discussions’ to enter joint venture with India’s Bharat Petroleum Corporation
SEMBCORP Green Hydrogen India is “in discussions” with Indian oil and gas company Bharat Petroleum Corporation to enter a definitive joint-venture agreement for renewable energy and green hydrogen projects across India.
“The partnership aims to support India’s long-term energy transition and development goals,” said Sembcorp on Friday (Sep 13).
Sembcorp Green Hydrogen India is a wholly owned subsidiary of Sembcorp Industries, while Bharat Petroleum Corporation is a state-owned oil and gas company.
Sembcorp added that it has a significant presence in India and it is well-positioned to lead decarbonisation initiatives with Bharat Petroleum Corporation to drive the country’s energy transition.
Shares of Sembcorp Industries closed 0.2 per cent or S$0.01 higher at S$5.16 on Friday, before the announcement.
