THROUGH its wholly-owned subsidiary Sembmarine SLP, Sembcorp Marine (Sembmarine) has clinched an exclusive planned preventative maintenance contract from Danish power company Orsted for one of the world’s largest wind farms.

Under the contract, Sembmarine SLP will maintain and service low voltage and ancillary systems on the offshore substation and reactive compensation station of the Hornsea 2 Offshore Wind Farm, 89 km off the coast of Yorkshire in the UK. These had earlier been installed by Sembmarine SLP, after they were fabricated in Singapore by Sembmarine Offshore Platforms, another wholly-owned subsidiary of Sembmarine.

In a press release on Friday (Nov 4), Sembmarine said this is Sembmarine SLP’s first sole supplier maintenance award.

Upon becoming fully operational at the end of August 2022, the Hornsea 2 Offshore Wind Farm, which covers an area of 462 square metres, will be able to provide clean electricity to more than 1.4 million homes.

Sembmarine did not disclose the contract value and added that it is not expected to have a material impact on the company’s net tangible assets or earnings per share for the current fiscal year.

Shares of Sembmarine : S51 0% closed higher by 1.5 per cent or S$0.002 at S$0.134 on Thursday.
