Sembmarine in negotiations with Brazilian Navy for vessel construction contract
SEMBCORP Marine (Sembmarine) S51 is in negotiations with the Brazilian Navy for a contract involving the construction of an Antarctic support vessel. The support vessel project, Projeto Navio De Apoio Antartico (NApAnt), is part of the Brazilian Navy's research vessel project, a company spokesperson said in response to queries from The Business Times on Wednesday (Oct 13).
The contract involves two of Sembmarine's wholly-owned subsidiaries: Estaleiro Jurong Aracruz and Sembcorp Marine Specialised Shipbuilding.
Sembmarine's proposal was identified by the Brazilian Navy as the "best offer" based on four factors: vessel performance, business financial model, construction methodology, as well as life cycle management and integrated logistics support, said the spokesperson.
