SEMBCORP Marine (Sembmarine) has appointed Chor How Jat as chief operating officer (COO), it said on Thursday (Mar 2).
His appointment, effective Mar 1, came after Sembmarine’s combination with Keppel Offshore & Marine (Keppel O&M) on Tuesday. On the same day, Sembmarine said Chris Ong, Keppel O&M’s chief executive, would become the chief executive of the combined entity.
In this newly-created role, Chor will report to Ong. He will have oversight over the offshore and marine group’s yard operations, as well as the execution of local and overseas projects to ensure on-time and on-budget delivery.
Chor was previously COO of Keppel O&M. He was also the managing director of conversions and repairs at the same company.
The new combined entity will have Mark Gainsborough as the chairman of the board and an independent director. Yap Chee Keong will assume the roles of deputy chairman and independent director. Other members include non-executive and non-independent director Nagi Hamiyeh, as well as other independent directors Jan Holm and Lai Chung Han.
