SGX reports increased activity in securities, derivatives and commodities trading in July
SECURITIES, derivatives and commodities activities registered positive growth in July from a year earlier, Singapore Exchange (SGX) said on Thursday.
The average daily trading value of securities last month was S$1.1 billion - down 7 per cent month on month but up 15 per cent year on year.
Total turnover for securities was S$24.2 billion, down 2 per cent month on month but up 15 per cent from the year-ago period.
SGX noted there were 22 trading days in July compared to 21 days in June.
Three companies were listed on Catalist, raising S$47 million and bringing the total number of Catalist-listed companies to 162. The total number of listed securities is now 770.
There were 50 bond listings, raising S$23.6 billion. This was up 93 per cent month on month and 12 per cent higher year on year.
Meanwhile, the derivatives volume of 21.5 million contracts was down one per cent month on month but up 141 per cent from the year-ago period.
Equity index futures volume was flat month on month at 19.7 million contracts and up 142 per cent over the year.
For commodities, SGX AsiaClear futures volume rose 55 per cent over the month and 489 per cent year on year to 690,226 contracts.
SGX shares closed on Thursday at S$7.72, up two cents.
