Shangri-La Asia appoints Robert Kuok’s daughter Kuok Hui Kwong as new CEO
Kuok is entitled to a monthly base salary of HK$576,000 (S$94,300), plus discretionary bonus and pension.
[SINGAPORE] Shangri-La Asia announced the appointment of Kuok Hui Kwong as its new chief executive officer on Wednesday (Jul 16).
The 47-year-old will start her new role on Aug 1.
She has been the hospitality company’s executive director since June 2016 and its chairman since January 2017.
The position of CEO has been vacant since December 2022, when Lim Beng Chee retired and stepped down.
Kuok is the daughter of Shangri-La founder Robert Kuok, who is Malaysia’s richest man.
Under her current employment contract with Shangri-La, Kuok is entitled to a monthly base salary of HK$576,000 (S$94,300), plus discretionary bonus and pension.

She has been working with the group’s executive team to “drive key decisions” since Lim’s retirement, and previously was the CEO of SCMP Group from 2009 to 2012.
Since Lim’s retirement, Kuok has been responsible for Shangri-La’s “strategic priorities”, said the company, adding that the combination of both roles was expected to enhance operations.
Shangri-La’s previous CEO Lim held the role for nearly six years and assumed a position as non-executive director after his retirement.
Before joining the hospitality group, Lim was the CEO of CapitaMalls Asia and non-executive director of Changi Airports International.
