MAY was a bumper month for share buybacks on the Singapore Exchange (SGX), with 20 companies repurchasing some 18.5 million shares worth S$48.6 million - the highest in eight months.
Month-on-month, total buybacks were up 160 per cent from S$18.7 million in April which noted a decline in buyback activity as it coincided with earnings reports and blackout periods for companies buying back their own shares, said SGX's investor education portal My Gateway.
