SIA Engineering looking at market for stripping retired aircraft
MAINBOARD-LISTED SIA Engineering S59 : S59 0% is looking at the market of stripping retired aircraft, a segment that the maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) services provider thinks there will be a need for in this region.
Ng Chin Hwee, chief executive officer of the group, shared at an analyst call on Monday (Nov 8) about its role of removing the variable components from aircraft for its parent company Singapore Airlines (SIA) in October.
Then, SIA had two of its superjumbo planes Airbus A380 and a Boeing 777-200 aircraft scrapped, and that was the first time the national carrier parted out its aircraft locally.
