SINGAPORE Airlines (SIA) launched on Thursday its thrice-weekly flights to Dusseldorf, boosting the seat capacity per week between Singapore and Germany by 7.5 per cent.

"With the launch of Singapore Airlines' thrice-weekly services to the German city, the Singapore air hub will be more connected than ever not just to Germany, but also to Europe,'' Changi Airport said in a release.

With the launch, there will be 154 weekly services connecting Singapore to Europe every week - that's about one every hour - with nine airlines serving 15 destinations in Europe.

In 2015, some 3.9 million passenger movements were registered between Singapore and Europe.
