I REFER to the The Business Times column on May 23 "Can SIAS truly represent minorities' interests?"
I am surprised that the writer, Marissa Lee, seems to have clearly misunderstood the role and responsibilities of SIAS.
I accept SIAS does not have teeth but we do not hold ourselves out to be a regulator. Indeed we have neither the available statutory powers nor the resources for such a role, her article implies.
