SINGAPORE Airlines (SIA) has kicked off its three-year revamp programme as it attempts to boost revenues and curtail costs in a move seen as necessary in a competitive operating environment.

Fifty-six initiatives are being pursued in the first phase, including a review of the group network, engaging suppliers, identifying new ways of reducing fuel burn, rolling out additional self-service options to help ease call-centre volumes as well as reducing in-flight food and beverage wastage.
