SilkAir proves to be SIA group's bright spot in Dec 2014
Singapore
IN December 2014, Singapore Airlines' (SIA's) system-wide passenger carriage (measured in revenue passenger kilometres) fell 0.8 per cent from a year ago, while capacity (measured in seat kilometres) remained relatively flat with 0.1 per cent growth. Consequently, its passenger load factor (PLF) - which measures how much of an airline's passenger-carrying capacity is used - fell 0.7 percentage point to 81.8 per cent.
PLF improved for East Asia and South West Pacific due to stronger demand from year-end holiday travel, while demand was weaker for the Americas and Europe.
