SILVERLAKE Axis has received an offer from its executive chairman Goh Peng Ooi to acquire his shareholding interests in various Silverlake private entities he owns.

On Friday (Jan 19), the enterprise technology company said that Silverlake’s independent directors were of the view that the proposal should be explored in line with the company’s longer-term expansion and growth.

“The company has accordingly responded... by submitting a non-binding letter indicating its interest to further explore this potential opportunity,” it said.

Silverlake said that SAC Capital has been engaged to act as financial adviser with respect to the proposed acquisition. The company intends to engage further professional advisers to assist in its evaluation and will keep shareholders informed.

It noted: “Shareholders are, however, cautioned that the proposal is still at a very preliminary stage and the parties have yet to engage in any substantive negotiations on the terms, structure or scope of the proposed acquisition, and there is no certainty that any acquisition will result following such negotiations.”

Shares of Silverlake closed at S$0.27, down 1.8 per cent or S$0.005, on Friday.
