THE total value of stocks in Singapore retreated in May as investor sentiment took a hit from the Republic's tightening of its Covid-19 restrictions amid a spike in cases, as well as the rapid spread of new and more infectious virus variants across the globe.
Total market capitalisation of the 681 stocks listed on the Singapore Exchange (SGX) fell 1.3 per cent or S$10.9 billion to S$856.2 billion, from S$867.1 billion as at end-April, data compiled by The Business Times showed.
