Singtel appoints new chief technology officer, CEO international
SINGAPORE Telecommunications (Singtel) is making two key appointments to its leadership team as part of its multi-year transformation to respond to the challenges of digital disruption.
From April 1, 2017, Mark Chong will assume the role of Singtel's group chief technology officer (CTO), while Arthur Lang will be its CEO international.
Both appointees, together with Samba Natarajan, CEO group digital life, will join Singtel's management committee which oversees strategic direction and execution.
Said Chua Sock Koong, Singtel group CEO: "Given our global aspirations and a fast evolving business and technology landscape, we are reinforcing our leadership team as we prime our enterprise for our next phase of growth."
Mr Chong, currently CEO international, will take over from Tay Soo Meng, who will retire as group CTO.
A Singtel veteran of over 20 years, Mr Chong has held various key leadership positions, most notably executive vice-president of networks in Singapore and chief operating officer of AIS in Thailand.
Mr Lang, formerly the group chief financial officer (CFO) of CapitaLand, will be responsible for the growth of the group's regional associates across India, Indonesia, the Philippines and Thailand. He joins the group on Jan 9, 2017.
Mr Tay will retire after almost 50 years of service but will take on an advisory role. He was instrumental in helping Singtel secure network leadership in Singapore and enhancing network coverage in Australia.
