IN somewhat of a plot twist, Singtel on Thursday launched its video-on-demand service HOOQ in Singapore - even as Singtel said that HOOQ's focus will remain on emerging markets, and even with competition here from Netflix and the like.
HOOQ, a joint-venture service by Singtel, Sony Pictures Television and Warner Bros, is now available to users here for a monthly fee of S$8.98, the "price of a movie ticket", according to HOOQ chief Peter Bithos.
