Singtel's bet on cybersecurity could pay off

Published Wed, Nov 2, 2016 · 09:50 PM

SINGTEL does not want to be known as just a telco anymore. The communications and ICT solutions group now boasts a superior enterprise and digital business, and is already positioning itself for the future by investing in emerging technologies such as drones, the Internet of Things, smart cities and cybersecurity.

Notably, it is approaching the field of cybersecurity in trailblazer fashion. In the last two years, Singtel has accelerated efforts to grow the business - securing partnerships with global big-names, and launching new facilities in cybersecurity. It is also a big provider of managed security services, network security services that are outsourced to a service provider.

This year, it opened a Cyber Security Institute to train companies to manage cyber threats. It also inked cybersecurity collaborations with Palo Alto Networks, the National University of Singapore and TIS Inc. On Wednesday, it announced the launch of an Advanced Security Operations Centre in Sydney, its eighth centre globally.
