Sinostar PEC appoints ex-MP John Chen as lead independent director
SINOSTAR PEC Holdings on Tuesday announced that it has appointed former member of Parliament John Chen as a lead independent director and non-executive independent director.
Dr Chen, 67, was a member of Parliament between 1988 and 2006. In that time, he also served terms as Minister of State for Communications, Minister of State for Communications and Information Technology and Minister of State for National Development. He was also notably the assistant secretary general of the National Trades Union Congress from 1991 to 1997.
Dr Chen has also been on the boards of several regulatory bodies and public authorities and has taught at the National University of Singapore in the past.
At present, he holds various positions such as deputy chairman, non-executive and independent director of Tat Seng Packaging Group; executive chairman of Pavillon Holdings; and board member of several public listed companies in Singapore.
On Thursday, shares of Sinostar PEC were trading at 37.5 Singapore cents, up 0.5 cent or 1.4 per cent as at 2.41pm.
