SMRT to hire 1,200 staff, raise bus captain salaries

AMID new competition in the Singapore bus arena, SMRT Corp said it will raise the salaries of its bus captains and hire an additional 1,200 staff for its rail and bus businesses.

The land transport provider said it plans to increase the headcount for its train division by about 15 per cent, or 700 staff, this year, and for its bus division by 20 per cent, or about 500 staff.
