Soup Restaurant Group to open five more outlets in Singapore
MAINBOARD-LISTED Soup Restaurant Group will open five more outlets in Singapore by October this year as it moves to expand its business, bringing the total number of restaurants here to 19.
The five outlets include one at Changi Airport and two in Holland Village.
Wong Chi Keong, co-founder and executive director, said although the retail climate in Singapore remains challenging with high rents and labour costs, the group is confident that the expansion will position it for the future.
This, as the new restaurants are located in new or refurbished malls with high traffic, he said, adding that the group has also taken the chance to introduce new dining concepts and add new dishes.
"For example, our new Soup Heritage Restaurant at Raffles Hotel, which opened in June, expanded its menu to include chilli crab and an extensive wine list to cater to local residents and tourists."
The group has also appointed Wong Wei Teck as managing director. He took over from co-founder Mok Yip Peng, who retired at the end of April.
