S'pore borrowers issue 16.6% less new debt in 2015

US$20.7b raised from capital markets, down from preceding year's US$24.9b

SINGAPORE borrowers tapped the capital markets at a 16.6 per cent slower pace in 2015 amid an economic slowdown and expectations of higher interest rates.

Singapore-domiciled issuers borrowed US$20.7 billion from capital markets in 2015, down from the year-ago total volume of US$24.9 billion, according to preliminary data from Thomson Reuters and Freeman Consulting Co.
