ST Engineering appoints Tan Lee Chew as president of commercial business; COO Lim Serh Ghee to retire in Oct

    SINGAPORE Technologies (ST) Engineering S63 had on Tuesday appointed sales and marketing veteran Tan Lee Chew as the president of the group's commercial business and a member of the group executive committee.

    With the new appointment, Lim Serh Ghee will relinquish his role as chief commercial officer. He will remain as group chief operating officer (operations excellence), and a member of the group executive committee, until his planned retirement on Oct 30.

    In her new role, Ms Tan will be responsible for the international growth of the group's commercial business areas, which includes the commercial aerospace, urban solutions and satellite communications domains. She will report to group president and chief executive officer Vincent Chong.

    The changes will take effect on Sept 1.

    Ms Tan was formerly from Amazon Web Services (AWS) where she was the managing director for Asean in the worldwide public sector and was responsible for leading new business growth through the adoption of AWS services as an enabler to deliver technology transformation for organisations.

    Prior to that, she was with Hewlett-Packard Enterprise for over 20 years, last serving as the senior vice-president of global hybrid IT sales and category management based in Palo Alto, California. She had led the go-to-market planning and execution of product sales strategies for the company's data centre infrastructure and software defined technology portfolio globally.

    "The appointment of Lee Chew will strengthen our management team to drive further global success. Lee Chew brings with her significant global experience having spent 30 years in multinational companies in the technology sector, holding senior positions including roles with regional and global responsibilities in sales and marketing, and business transformation," said Mr Chong in a press statement.

    "We would like to thank Serh Ghee for his outstanding service and significant contributions during his 37 years with the group and wish him every success in his future endeavours," he said.

    Mr Lim joined the group's aerospace business in 1984. He held various senior management appointments over the years, and was president of the aerospace sector from 2014 to 2020.

    He was also instrumental in the continued global growth of the group's aerospace sector, said ST Engineering in a statement.

    H had played a key role in strategically moving the sector into original equipment manufacturing of aircraft engine nacelle systems and composite floor panels, as well as expanded the company's passenger-to-freighter conversion capabilities.

    ST Engineering had recently made several other new appointments to enhance its senior leadership team. This includes Cheryl Chan as group chief strategy and sustainability officer and Low Ka Hoe as president of satellite communications. These appointments will take effect from Sept 1.

    Meanwhile, Lim Kok Ann had assumed the role of president of land systems from July 1.

    Shares of ST Engineering ended Tuesday at S$3.78, down S$0.01 or 0.3 per cent.
